The vase has been created using contrasting blue and brown tones. It also has contrasting textures and patterns.
David White had started Thanet Pottery with his sister Mary in 1961 (based in Westwood, Kent). Despite its success, the company had to close in 1967. White later opened Broadstairs Pottery in Kent in 1968 and ran it until 1983, when he sold it in order to concentrate on one-off studio pieces.
