France & Son was started in 1948 by British businessman Charles France & his Danish partner Eric Daverkosen, the company was named France & Daverkosen until France’s Son joined the company in 1957 and it later became known as France & Son.
France & Son was one of the first furniture companies to design furniture to be easily dismantled for shipping. The company’s industrial cutting innovations led them to produce the first industrially manufactured solid teak Chair (Finn Julh’s model 133 Spadestolen chair) this success meant that they became the biggest exporter of teak wood from Thailand. In the mid 1960s the company was sold to Poul Cadovious and later became known as Cado.
