History of Wedgwood: Founded in 1759 Josiah Wedgwood worked as an independent potter aged just 29. Wedgwood experimented avidly with clay, exploring its many possibilities, including exploring how pottery changed when fired at various temperatures and durations. He is today remembered as the “Father of English Potters”.
