Mid 20th Century Ceramic Vase by Italian ceramist and designer Marcello Fantoni
(signed on the base with Fantoni’s signature and Italy)
Made in Italy
The vase is made up of serval layers of glazes. The base has a satin finish to the glaze in colours of white, green and a reddish brown. The surface is raised where the glazes overlap one another. Dripping down in an asymmetric diagonal is a rough matt orange glaze. This envelops the neck and opening of the vase.
The random pattern/design makes each finished piece unique.
Marcello Fantoni was born in Florence, Italy in 1915 and opened the Fantoni Ceramic Studio in 1936. Later in life he founded the International School of Ceramic Art where he taught.
He later died in 2011, hailed as “the master of beauty”
