Edwardian Bryant & May Post Box Vesta Case

Styled into a small post box, this little vesta case is red with black and gold details of postage rates (unfortunately it is quite worn)

When lifting it open, a smaller cylindrical cup for holding matches has details of the cost of postage and postage regulations “The Following are the rates of postage when prepaid….1d Or a letter not above 1 oz…..1 1/2d…” (these are hard to make out as they are very worn)

At the top of the vesta case is three little metal tabs for holding wax, this is for placing a lit match for use as a night light. The base is textured for striking matches.

The lettering on the exterior and interior are quite worn, but it is a nice decorative item
