Mid 20th Century Italian Ceramic Asymmetric Dish

This dish has an abstract boat shape created in a matt textured sgraffito glaze, with an abstract figure fishing within the dish. The figure is brightly decorated in a gloss glaze.
Marcello Fantoni was born in Florence in 1915 and opened the Fantoni Ceramic Studio in 1936.
Later in life he founded the International School of Ceramic Art and taught there.
He later died in 2011, hailed as “the master of beauty”.
