Mid 20th Century Armchair
Designed by Wim Rietveld for Dutch manufacturer Gispen (est. 1916 by Willem Hendrik Gispen (b. 1890- d. 1981)
There is a manufacturers label on the base – catalogues from the period document the designer as Wim Rietveld and the model number.
This chair was first shown at the 10th Milan Triennale in 1954
This model 1401 has a enamelled metal tubular frame with rectangular bakelite armrests.
The fame is black and has been newly upholstered in blue De Ploeg fabric.

Condition report:

Good Condition – Good condition with some minor signs of wear to the frame commensurate with the age and use
The upholstery and foam seating has been replaced and is in very good condition
The bakelite armrests are not chipped or broken
thin scratch on the back
